Hanging at "applying computer settings"

Recommended Posts

I'm having an issue with Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 x86 after installing

SP2. The server is exhibiting extremely long startup times when booting

normally. I can boot in safe mode (w/out networking), and I'll get a

ctrl-alt-del prompt in a normal timespan. As soon as I try to reboot it

normally or into safe mode w/networking, I don't get a ctrl-alt-del prompt

for an extended period of time (not sure how long - I usually force a reboot

after 15 minutes!). I'm seeing NetLogon event # 5719 in the sys log. Please

help!

Re: Hanging at "applying computer settings"

Thanks for the assistance, but it still exhibits the same behavior. I can

boot in safe mode, disable all network interfaces through device manager,

reboot and it will present a ctrl-alt-del prompt right away. Also, this

behavior was not present prior to the addition of SP2. I refomatted the box

this morning, added R2 & joined it to the domain. All reboots were normal. I

went to the Windows update site, downloaded & installed SP2, and no joy

since. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
