Hiya hope someone can help, just wanted to know why a message appears on my computer desktop saying either 'connection to your server has failed' or 'connection to the server has failed 'and then advises me to go to the avg website.What is a server, is it the company that connects me to the internet because if thats the case it is Orange broadband Edited by rainy242

Hello rainy,

It appears that you are getting this error message as AVG is trying to update it's anti virus definitions.

 

either a firewall is blocking it, your connection isn't up when it tried to update or it is for some other reason,

If your internet works fine normally, as in your browser, viewing webpages then it is the programs problem.

 

You can either uninstall AVG and reinstall it, or choose another anti virus program from our list of Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Recommended Security products

[You can also update it manually, but a reinstallation should fix the problem aswell]
