Win98SE & DSL...

Can anybody give me step-by-step instructions on connecting a Win98SE PC to

the AT&T/Yahoo DSL service? Or point me to a web site where I can find the

information? Should I just try using the Home Networking Wizard? Their tech

support adamantly refuses to help with this issue.

I already have a network card installed, so you need not explain how to do

that.

hmm? do at&t force you to do something special to use it?

for a normal adsl-connections (a normal internet provider)

all you have to do is

1. connect your computer to your adsl-modem with a network cable

(if you want you can have a router inbetween ofcourse, for

the firewall security and to have more than one computer)

2. connect your adsl-modem to your first phone jack in the house

3. plug in the poweradapter and turn on power of the adsl-modem

and turn on your computer

4. verify that you have dhcp on (if you don't get your own ip-number

from them) in your networks settings

(in win98se that is controlpanel-network-TCP/IP-Properties-

-get ip-address "Automatic" (in the IP-address tab).

I don't use english version of win98se but something like that)

it doesn't mather what operating system you use, all are same...

some ugly internet providers did back in the dark ages force

you to go theirs webpage to "log in", maybe at&t still do?

What did at&t write in their "installation instructions" (that probably

have screenshots for other operatingsystems), anything more?

Don't know if AT&T/Yahoo DSL is the same as Verizon or not. But, when

installing Verizon DSL on a neighbor's computer I had to install the

PPPoE networking protocol first and then log in at the Verizon DSL home

page.
