Guest MR Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Hi, I just plugged into my ME unit a Dell monitor that is 4 years old. Monitor is in excellant condition. But, the desktop looks weird in the sence that it is concaveish (just like the shape of these parenthesis). and the icons are smaler. If the settings are at the default settings, I dont like them. If they are not, then maybe the default settings is what i need to go to. WHat can I try? thanmks in advance -- Thanks so very much for your help-! ! ! !
Guest Marcy Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Re: monitor or ME problem i think you can right click on a blank area on the desktop>>>>then go to video modes and click on 800 by 600 true color>>>>that should fix it or choose another from the list until you it looks like what you want. Guest Joan Archer Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Re: monitor or ME problem I think most monitors have controls on them to adjust things like that, have you tried to use them to solve the problem ? Guest Mart Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Re: monitor or ME problem The "concaveish" (pincushion) problem certainly sounds like an issue with your Dell Monitor. Elsewhere, Joan has mentioned the monitor's own controls to correct it - see also the Dell handbook (or search for it on Dell's site if you know the model number) You also might find this little utility (freeware) from Nokia helpful in correcting the geometry and setting your screen display, along with other useful Monitor tests. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/Nokia-Monitor-Test.shtml Mart "MR" <MR@MR_Furn.com> wrote in message news:OJfUC8XIIHA.3940@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Hi, I just plugged into my ME unit a Dell monitor that is 4 years old. > Monitor is in excellant condition. Guest glee Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Re: monitor or ME problem Actually, it sounds like you need to adjust BOTH the Windows display settings and the monitor settings, as described in all the other replies. I would set the Windows display settings to something like 800x600, 24-bit, and set the Refresh rate to Optimal; then adjust the screen using the controls on the front of the monitor. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ "MR" <MR@MR_Furn.com> wrote in message news:OJfUC8XIIHA.3940@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Hi, I just plugged into my ME unit a Dell monitor that is 4 years old.
