Emailing alerts

What I'm needing: My server to email me when alerts are tripped.

What I've done: In the alert properties there is an option to run a program

or batch file. I googled and found blat, an app tha tsend email form the

cli. I've written and tested a batch using blat that works fine. I get eth

email everytime. When I configure an alert to tell me when my c:\ is less

than 100% free (for testing only) I cna see the event show up in the log and

while I've browsed to the blat batch file in configuring the alerts it never

sends me the email. In fact I don't believe the batch file ever starts. I"m

running Server 2003 R2. I'm not tied to blat but I'm not great at scripts

excpet for some batch files and I'm learning php. I don't have access to an

exchange server so I also need to use the smtp server I've got configured in

the current batch file
