jenian Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Hi all, How do I connect my Aiwa vid recorder to my PC so I can record/download my old vids to DVD please. The connections on the Vid are 3 phono 'in' sockets at the front ( yellow, white and red). At the rear of the vid are 2 phono 'out' sockets (red and white) no yellow video socket and 2 scart sockets. The PC is only 9 mths old and on the sound card there is only the usual 3.5 jack sockets outlets. I have a Nvideo Geforce 8500 graphics card with 2 monitor outlets and a Svideo socket (will this be 'in'or 'out'). the software I have for video manipulation is 'Roxio Easy Creator 9) Thank you, Ian Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 How old is this camera, jenian and in what medium does it record? It does not seem that it is designed for direct interface with a pc, at least not from the description of its available output cables. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
jenian Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Its a Aiwa FX7800 video recorder, not a camera. Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Sorry I didn't notice. You will need to get a video capture card along with the applicable software. The following is an example of what you will need. Magix Rescue your Video Tapes > Maplin Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
Plastic Nev Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) Hi jenian. You mention there is a Svideo socket on your graphics card, I think they are two way, both in and out. Although you don't have a similar socket on your video recorder, you can get a scart to Svideo adapter that you may be able to use with a Svideo cable on the scart out socket. Many TV and Video retailers will stock the adapter. You may also need to use a left and right audio cable as well, phono to 3.5 jack. jenian Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Thank you all I will try to get the adaptor first and then the software. Ian Quote
Plastic Nev Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Hi again, if the adapter will let you get video and sound across, your "Roxio" software may be all you need.
