My first post..... really not great on pc's but i can use em.. BUT my pc at home has just started to NOT open / recognise any CD roms. It will however open photo cd's i have.

I got O2 broadband and with it came a cd rom. I put it in and nothing... I then tried the driver for my printer (that i have previously installed) and it did not recognise that.. i tried again with MP3 cd rom and the same again.. Then i put in a picture cd and 'Autoplay' fired up and it opened fine.

I have tried the cd roms at work and they are fine.... Any ideas experts?

Thank you

Assuming that the drive is in good order the problem may either be with the drivers or the firmware for the drive.

First right click on My Computer and then on manage in the drop down menu.

Select "device manager" and look at CD/DVD drives. Do you have any warnings posted next to it? If not what is the drive (manufacturer and model) it should be identified in device manager.

This maybe a stupid question but when you say it worked, you say that the auto run appeared.

When you put in a different CD, have you opened My Computer to check if it has recognised the CD in the drive on there?
