Hi,

I have 2 nVidia 7600 GS GPUs with fully updated drivers and SLi enabled. However, whenever I run any game (I tested old ones and new ones) the screen ocasionally looks as though the image is shaking (I really can't describe it very well). However, the bigger problem is that whenever I close/minimise a game and then open a new one (or re-maximise) the screen flickers between black and the normal image and some textures lose their colours and turn a multitude of different colours. I have no idea what the problem could be as I have tested it with different resolutions and refresh rates and I still get the same problem. What is going on here?

Thank you for reading

What kind of monitor are you using? How old is the monitor?

Also... have you installed the most recent drivers for your motherboard. For proper SLI support you need to have recent drivers for the motherboard. These are different drivers than the ones needed for the video cards.

I installed the drivers for my motherboard too, but the monitor is relatively old. (it's a flatscreen but it's about 12")

then I dare say that your monitor is going out. If you have access to another monitor... try hooking the other monitor up to your computer. If the problem goes away with the "new" monitor.. then you will know that your old monitor is going bad.

My monitor is a Proview/EMC/PTS PZ456 but unfortunately I do not have another monitor to test it with and I lack a VGA - VGA cable so I cannot connect it to my TV.

when did this problem start?

Did you change anything around the same time this problem started?

Have you always run SLI?

Has this monitor worked with SLI before?

Have you always run nVidia cards?

It started the first time I put it on. I have always used SLi on this PC, but the monitor was used on a PC with a 64Mb GPU before I used it on this PC. I have not always run nVidia, but with the components in my PC at the moment I have only run these GPUs.

It would seem then that the monitor is the issue. Either it's going bad... or it does not support SLI.

alright, I was planning on getting a new one anyway but this will most probably accelerate the process and puts my mind at rest (in that it isn't one of my expensive components that is fried)

Are you sure that you are supplying enough power to the setup for SLI?

Most SLI MOBO's have an additional 4 pin molex near where the 2 cards go to help supply more power.

failing that you may have to tweak the options in the Nvidia drivers to optimise the SLI setup

I dont have a 4 pin plug near the PCI-E slots, I only have the bridge and a lot of jumpers but no other connections between the mobo and the GPUs. I have this MOBO:

GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification - GA-N650SLI-DS4L (rev. 1.0)

I think I have set it up correctly and this problem does not occur on the first run a game, only the second and further instances. Also, it does not occur after watching films, only after games. Is there any way I can redirect more voltage to the GPUs in the bios as I could not find anything myself.

Which of the GPU's do you have the Monitor plugged into?

If we say BLUE or ORANGE as per the MOBO layout for clarity

I believe so. I have attached a screenshot, but if there is anything else I need to do I would like to like to know.
