Just bought a new system for my son, ASUS M5201 and a HP w2007v monitor. The monitor won't recognise the computer is running, it just gives error message ' no VGA input detected' then goes into sleep mode. I have got it going a couple of times (god knows how! and downloaded from the supplied hp disk and the latest graphics drivers from the nvidea site. But when I'd thought it was ok and put the computer to sleep mode on return the same problem it won't start up, so I have to take my monitor from downstairs and connect it to my sons system so that we can get it working again - I only bought it today should I take it back?

My reply was a bit glib but if the old monitor works and the new one doesn't (which is what I gather is the case) then, Yep! Take it back.

I 'm just hacked off as to why, it's only a monitor it can't be that difficult to sort out, but with a blank screen I'm snookered, even though I know it's working as I can "fudge" it by connecting my monitor then reconnecting the hp.

I don't much blame you but if you fiddle with the hardware end of things your warranty will be void. Just take it back it is the safest thing to do
