Iam installing a new CPU Fan what Thermal Interface Material should I use. The CPU is an Intel LGA775 socket Intel Core 2 Duo Pentium

Hi Harold, if you mean the heat sink paste to go between the CPU and the heat sink, it is widely available from most computer parts retailers, and should be moderately applied, not too much, as it just squeezes out and contaminates everything. Arctic Cooling MX-5 is one that has been mentioned by our Dirty Polo, one of our self build experts.

Thank you thats great. My PC was freezing up and I thought the CPU was overheating so I took the fan out to clean it now I have to get some paste to pt it back.

Make sure that you use a good TIM cleaner fluid to get all the old stuff off - and only use about a grain of rice of the paste - as it spreads very easily - do not be tempted to use more than needed as this has an opposite effect on transferring the heat :eek:
