DirtyPolo Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I noticed you said your work is due in today? There maybe a few other options left but if today was the final deadline then I am guessing you're next option is to reformat the drive in the correct way and carry on as you were, just without your lost files. If you wish to continue, you can try BackToGeeks idea of running knoppix, if you wish to do this, please let us know so we can instruct you upon how to do this if you need assistance. I am not a user of ZAR so I am not sure if there is anyway knoppix could find them if ZAR couldn't, but the option is still there I guess. backtogeek Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Yup its not all over yet, you still have knoppix as an option and then failing that I suggest formatting the drive then running "runtime software get data back for ntfs" I have used this on multiple occasions and recovered files from as far back as 5 formats. Tootech Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Yup its not all over yet I agree. There are 3 possibilities I can think of. 1) External drive partition table is trashed. 2) The USB to hard drive electronics are faulty. 3) The drive itself is faulty. Backtogeek - can you think of any more ? Try Knoppix first if you can, its probably the easiest solution.
