Sorry, didnt refresh the page. So the PCMCIA card that I have cant be used at all on my machine?

 

Its just the Audigy 2 has Low latency asio compatability which is something I need to do my music production :P

There is a PCMCIA to USB adapter - it's for datacards really, it may work, it may not, and its more expensive than a new external sound card.

Thats the sort of thing ive been looking for, not really in my price range though, the question is whether it would reconise a sound card. :P

Hi David, I am afraid that, most definitely your Audigy 2ZS isn't much use with that laptop, as I can see no expansion slot mentioned either. I assume you will have looked round the edge to see if there is a removable cover for the type of slot the 2ZS fits. I also have that card but fortunately my Toshiba has the slot. Like you I need it for music. I am afraid there may only be the option of an external USB sound card, as the price of that doubtful adapter is too much to buy and risking it may work or not, which I doubt as it says on the website other cards are not supported. Thanks for the reply. It definantly wont fit, and the sort of money needed to put into that adaptor for a gamble isnt worth it. Ive been looking at other USB Sound cards, Im not sure really what to look for, This audigy 2ZS is a great piece of kit, Is there anything else you could recommend?

After all the 2ZS was around that price when I bought mine. A shame the newer laptops come with the Express slot instead of the older PCMCIA expansion slot. Any excuse to squeeze some more cash out of us eh!:D

Another possibility that may be worth considering in the circumstances, would be to look at perhaps a part exchange of the laptop for one with the facilities you need. You never know, you may get a good deal that way.

It only has a memory card slot not an Expresscard slot. :( I could look into a part exchange, just to see what they will give me for it, maybe in a few months or so.
