Can you please explain the history of what has happened to you, this sounds like it has been going on for a while and you were just applying quick fixes.

I will find out the brand of it when I get home. It's one of the companies that sells computers as a whole package (Zoo something i think?). I've been in and out of it before adding memory and sound cards asuch and it was fine. But, this just started happening one day and then i did the system restore and it was fine for like a month and then it just started doing it again last night but wouldnt even work when it let me do the restore if you know what i mean? thanks

Ok - can you get into safe mode? this is normally done by pressing F8 or F10 repeatedly when the PC boots up.

If you cannot get into safe mode then the chances are there is a serious issue.

*Here's what I have found out. If i leave my pc for about 6 hours or so it turns on fine, no problems everything as it should be. But if i try to turn it on within that 6 hours after then it just doesnt start up, hope that narrows it down!* havent tried safe mode yet but will do next time I need to turn it on within that 6 hours. weird :S

How old is this machine and when, if at all, was it last cleaned? Do the fans appear to be behaving normally or excessively fast, or for that matter, not at all?

Well I gave it a good dust out about 2 months ago from now. Before that it hadn't been done since i've bought it which was about 2 years ago from now. Fans seem to be working fine?

But its worth noting before cleaning it out my pc would switch off randomly quite a lot but, the clean out resolved this issue.
