I am in desperate need for help, as i have lost all my Network Adapters in Device manager.

They all have yellow circle with exclamation(!) marks against them, which i can not uninstall.

Prior to this problem, i had run the Anti-Malware, hoping to get shut of the Spyware problem.

But it seems to have knosked off the adapters, for some reason, can anyone advice/help plz.

My laptop is running windows XP, on Toshiba satalite, AVG Anti-Virus pack.

Many thanks in advance

When you say 'you have malware' please be more specific

They have yellow exclamation marks as windows no longer recogises them - you stated that you cannot uninstall the exclamations which makes no sense.

Tell us how you came to know you had malware and we will advise from there.

Either you did something to the network connections which is possible by your own statement above or you have malware, or even a virus on the PC.

We can only help if we have a true understanding of what is happening

I suspected a spyware on my laptop which AVG was unable to detect (i think), so i dowloaded Anti-Malware and run the program to eliminate this, thus problems with adapters now.

When i go right click over the adapters in question and select Uninstall, the message reads "caannot uninstall".

However the list of adapters are repeated below each other without the errors.

I ma not able to coonect to Internet, hard wired or wireless due this adapter problem.

I am currently using another laptop for this forum.

Yes,I may possibly have malware and virus on the system, so any advice.

It seems this anti malware program you downloaded caused you more trouble than good.

We have an exceptionally good proceedure for getting rid of malware on your PC.

Please follow the instructions below.

As you do not have access to the internet on the problematic machine make sure you download any programs to a flash drive or removable media so that you can install them on the problematic machine whilst offline.

The malware disinfection process (below) developed by Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help requires the download of three different programs. (ATF Cleaner, Malwarebyte's Anti Malware and SUPERantispyware.)

If you have been directed to perform this process and have no access to the internet you can download the necessary files to an external medium such as a memory stick, CD or external drive and install them to your PC from there.

If your PC is connected to a router with an ethernet cable, you may be able to acquire internet access using the Safe Mode with Networking option. (Tapping F8 on startup)

If you can gain access in the manner, download the files directly. However, SUPERantispyware must be installed in "normal" mode. Once installed, it may then be run in Safe Mode if you prefer.

Two of the programs need to be updated (after installation) in order to be effective. Updates for these are available through the links below. These links are updates only! You must first download and install the applicable programs from the links given in the disinfection process instructions.

SUPERAntiSpyware.com - Database Definition Information

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Database - GT500.org

Here is the full process, feel free to ask any questions you may have, and please try to do the whole process in one go, don't stop and start between steps.

Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a combination of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.

It is in your best interest to note the following:

  1. Please disable your resident security applications (such as AVG, Spybot, WinPatrol, etc.) before performing the below procedure so that they do not interfere with the process.
  2. Perform all the steps in the order listed to avoid any conflicts.
  3. If unsure, please stop and voice your doubts.

    4. Click on the More Options tab.
    5. Click the Clean Up button in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the most recent one.

This will remove any infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in "System Restore" are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only foolproof way to ensure the deletion of those files.

Note: Please don't use it on a regular basis as this will clear all previous restore points. The feature might be very useful to revert your computer to working condition if something goes wrong.

Re-enable all your security applications and please return here and tell us how the computer seems to be operating.

I'd remove AVG before you start the malware removal process - it's done you no favours.

When you say you

dowloaded Anti-Malware

What was it you downloaded?

Also, its not often a piece of spyware or an anti malware program would mess up the network drivers. Have you run Sytem Restore whilst trying to remove the spyware?
