Guest Cwhitmore Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I'm currently running Symantec's Continuous Backup Protection server for Windows 2003 to replicate shared documents to a remote location over T1 lines. It's dog slow so I'm thinking of switching to DFS instead. Anyone have suggestions?

It's free, set up two "boxes" as Win 2k3 R2 servers and test it. hth DDS "Cwhitmore" <Cwhitmore@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:ADE25CE3-5EE0-43A9-B9CA-51FCA2A4E2B5@microsoft.com... > I'm currently running Symantec's Continuous Backup Protection server for > Windows 2003 to replicate shared documents to a remote location over T1 > lines. Guest Hugo Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Re: DFS vs Symantec Cont Backup Protection? Hi ! Take a look to this software: http://www.doubletake.com/products/double-take/default.aspx Not free ! Guest Cwhitmore Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Re: DFS vs Symantec Cont Backup Protection? Definitely not free. I tested that software about a year ago. It costs about $2k per server. I'm going to give DFS try. Does it matter that server that has the shares is a domain controller and the one I want to replicate to is only a member server? Guest Danny Sanders Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Re: DFS vs Symantec Cont Backup Protection? Nope. What does matter in order to get *all* the benefits that R2 has to offer you should run Win 2k3 Enterprise on the hub server. See the branch office management section in the doc: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb429523.aspx hth DDS "Cwhitmore" <Cwhitmore@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4CAA6459-6111-4D91-B842-74EAA829FC84@microsoft.com... > Definitely not free.
