For the past few weeks my printer has developed a habit of placing a magenta cast over any illustration type of printout. I started out just affecting photo grade paper prints, but now has spread to all paper types. I have done numerous cleaning excercises & print head alignments but to no avail. The print head incidentally is around 6 months old, so I don't think that this is the problem........though who knows? Any assistance would be appreciated:(

Have you tried changing the ink cartridges, other than that I don't really know what to suggest.

I haven't tried a cartridge change, as yet, as they are all fairly new and at between £10 and £15 a pop it is not an exercise that I will take lightly. However, if all else fails!!. I wonder if Canon (or their retailers more to the point) do refunds for faulty cartridges it it turns out thet this is the problem?? Trouble will be proving it I guess

Yes funny thing is I have two sets of practically new Epson cartridges because of a similar problem in red, but mine were sitting in a draw already so it wasn't as though I had to go and buy some specially, and after taking the printer apart I binned it!

Hi tally;

Sooner or later you are going to need new cartridges anyway.

However if you want to check other things download the User Guide for your printer. It's an exe. file so it needs to be installed.

Check out the Routine Maintanence section. In particular When Printing Becomes Faint or Colors Are Incorrect.

Also click on the Replacing An Ink Tank in the same section to see how to check the ink level status.

There are other maintance tips you should look at too.
