First thing is go to "device manager" and see what it says about "Sound, Video and Game controllers? Are there any warning indications there or anywhere else for that matter?

(Right Click "my computer" then click on manage and finally device manager.)

Hi Glimmerman, in device management, a double click on the device itself should open a window that will tell you, and then us, what type of sound system you have, it may be the AC97 or some other type. Once we know that, we may be able to find a source for a driver for it. Please let us have as much information as possible as there are a few different types of sound systems.
