Guest Trent Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Within our enterprise we have a number of computers that logon to AD using a generic auto-login account. Nurses then use these computers to run their clinical applications which have their own security. When these nurses use the PC to go to the internet they are prompted by the ISA proxy server for their credentials. They give them and then go. Problem: We will soon be forcing all users passwords to expire every 60 days but since these nurses only use their credentials to authenticate out to the internet through ISA I have no apparent way to prompt them to change their passwords when they are about to expire. Anyone know of any way to do this?
Guest SBS Rocker Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Re: How to Force a Password Change Prompt? Yes. If not for just security reasons you need to have them all sign into the workstations with their own account. Then they'll be forced to change their passwords. However if they never log onto the domain how do you expect to force them to change the password? In order to change their password manually or from a policy rule they must be logged onto the domain "Trent" <Trent@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B1B8D6C2-3252-49BB-98A1-D10E154244A4@microsoft.com... > Within our enterprise we have a number of computers that logon to AD using > a > generic auto-login account. Guest Kirrin Jones Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Re: How to Force a Password Change Prompt? You either have to do what SBS Rocker suggests or you will have to schedule for them to come in and change the passwords from a central location where you have them do it at the AD. You could disable the accounts and then when they call about it you can have them come and change it. Outside of that I can only think of what SBS Rocker is suggesting. Considering the way you are sharing account logins at the main PC, there probably isn't a good way to do what you are trying to do unless you create a web application that allows them to authenticate to it and then change their password. Have you considered having your nurses login to the actual workstation using their own credentials? I used to manage a network in a hospital environment and found that that was the best way to accomplish our needs, which seem to be similar to your own. -- Jack Doyle, Systems Engineer ScriptLogic Corporation http://www.scriptlogic.com
