Guest Neil Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I have a few users who have access to a share that keep accidently moving folders into the folders next to them by moving the mouse a bit between clicks when double-clicking a folder. Is there a permission I can assign that will prevent a user from moving or deleting a root folder but maintain permissions to move or delete the contents of that folder?

Yes, if you have all day to play with NTFS security and keep doing so, this is really a training issue.

You'll want to assign special permissions on the folders. From there, you can select whether you want to apply permissions to the folder itself, the folder and subfolders, the folder, subfolders and files, etc. You'll want to create separate permissions for the parent folders than for the subfolders and files. I hope this helps. -- Jack Doyle, Systems Engineer ScriptLogic Corporation http://www.scriptlogic.com
