I have done this many times. It has never prompted for a reboot and I

have never encountered any problems with not rebooting.

In fact, most recently I did this prior to installing Exchange 2007 and

did not reboot between raising the functional level and installing

Exchange and still no issues.

So, a definitive answer, I'm not sure. I would imagine if it were

necessary Microsoft would prompt you for a reboot.. hell, they do half

the time when it isn't necessary.
