I have a vista wi'fi laptop that seems lo lock up on web screens quite a lot. unlike XP, CTRL/ALT/DEL only gives you the option of log of, switch user,log of, change password or start task manager. How can I just exit the net and start again?

bet there is an easy way.

Hi david;

The short term solution is to choose Task Manager and under the Application tab end the browser session.

To exit the net entirely you need to turn off your computer or sever the connection via a modem or router button or pulling their plugs if you are not on dialup.

What concerns me is you say this happens a lot which is not normal. Post more details on your setup and hopefully someone will have some insight on why this keeps happening.

I have a feeling it may be the router that is locking me out, as I have had problems with it before.

I will try out the other sujestions you have mentioned .

Thanks for your imput, it is appreciated.

While you may very well have router problems (no way of knowing without more information,) a router should not stop you from closing a window or stopping a program.

Can you supply a bit more detail?

I am not sure what details you need,or how to supply the information. (bit new at this).

Perhaps you could walk me through it

Thanks

If your having local connection issues you could try logging on/off or restarting your machine to refresh any broken connections or if its network based try rebooting the router etc
