Avira has detected the following on viruses on my laptop which are currently quarantined, should I delete these now or leave them in the quarantine?

TR/Drop.Muha.462027

TR/StartPage.WD.1

As I've only got a trial version of Avira I'm not sure what to do?

The following warnings were listed which I don't know what to do about?

>

C:\hiberfil.sys

[WARNING] The file could not be opened!

C:\pagefile.sys

[WARNING] The file could not be opened!

C:\Documents and Settings\.......\My Documents\v2_3_1_92_win.exe

[0] Archive type: NSIS

--> ProgramFilesDir/[installDir]/Resources/Devices/M2.jar

[WARNING] The file could not be written!

Hi Star,

The two warnings listed above are normal. They do not indicate virus's but just files that cannot be opened during the scan. They are designed to be that way and pose no problems just leave them alone.

I am not quite sure what the others are without more research so I would suggest they remain quarantined for possible deletion later.

Hi Star

TR/Drop.Muha.462027 is listed in the Avira VDF file that was published on Wed, 17 Dec 2008 17:14 (GMT+1) as Malware

TR/StartPage.WD.1 I couldn't find anything on this one but I did find a

TR/StartPage7.00.06.60 listed in the Avira Virus info as a trojan and was listed in the Avira VDF file that was published - Mon, 25 Aug 2008 09:14 (GMT+1)

C:\hiberfil.sys is what your system uses when it Hybernates and can be as big as 1gig and as I remember your short on disk space so it might be an idea to ask one of the experts here on whether or not to get rid? more info here

C:\pagefile.sys is a portion of your harddrive that is reserved as an extension of RAM so that is essential

ProgramFilesDir/[installDir]/Resources/Devices/M2.jar This appears to be something to do with Java but what I can find on it is way over my head so all I can say about this is I'm not sure!!

Match is right, if you don't use Hibernate, disable it from Control Panel, Power Options, over to Hibernate and untag the Enable Hibernate box.

Restart and hiberfil.sys will have gone, freeing up some disk space.

BUT (there is always a but) this is a laptop you are talking about so if you are not running out of space on your hard drive I would leave it alone. It means that you will not hibernate automatically if you close the cover.

You need to decide what is important to you.
