Guest Veijalainen Juha Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 After installing SP2 on Windows Server 2003 standard SP1, server fails every five days. I have not found out why. I'd like to hear any suggestions you have on solving this problem. Visible effect is that new applications/processes cannot be started (Application failed to initialize properly). Applications already running work usually fine. Server is sluggish, and usually cannot be restarted or shut down normally (power off is required). Event log shows that problems have started earlier. Latest failure shows first an event id 1501 from SNMP (System Log), id 2012 PerfOs "Unable to get process info from system" (Appl Log), id 10010 DCOM "..did not register with DCOM..." (System log), id 4613 Com+ Event system unexpected error "..not enough storage is available to process this command" (Appl Log) and then a lot of id 333 Application popup "An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably" (System Log). This happened within 5 hours. Events vary from failure to failure, but DCOM errors are always there. Before a set of Windows updates two weeks ago, logs indicated also Default memory pool problems, but they are not present in logs now. I've checked several KB articles on DCOM, uninstalled all unnecessary applications and updated all Windows software to latest patches. Next I plan to uninstall SP2. Any other suggestions? Server runs MS SQL Server 2000 SP4, WSUS 3.0, print and file sharing, three database applications. Hardware is HP ML350 G4 with latest HP Management tools installed.
