Guest Banks1850 Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I was sniffing some login info because we have a gimpy server that takes forever to log in, and we noticed that it was pinging the login server during the domain login attempt, so I checked with a few other machines, I couldn't confirm though via any documentation online or in print, can someone confirm that windows is suppose to ping the login server during the domain login process in a mixed w2k w2k3 AD environment?
Guest Anthony Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Re: Ping packets during AD domain login? Yes, it uses ping to detect a "slow connection". This is then used for Group Policy processing, and cached logins, Anthony, http://www.airdesk.co.uk "Banks1850" <share@ebsystems.net> wrote in message news:3fd07f5b-d74f-4d0d-b1c7-22428076e1ed@b32g2000hsa.googlegroups.com... >I was sniffing some login info because we have a gimpy server that > takes forever to log in, and we noticed that it was pinging the login > server during the domain login attempt, so I checked with a few other > machines, I couldn't confirm though via any documentation online or in > print, can someone confirm that windows is suppose to ping the login > server during the domain login process in a mixed w2k w2k3 AD > environment?
