Error Code 8: 0x8007000e Windows Product Activation

For the past week I started getting the following error.

Event ID 1000

Error occurred while wizard was checking the current windows product

license. Error Code: 8 0x8007000e.

This server has been going strong for 4 years, it currently hosts our

website. It has not lost functionality. I have noticed that the page

file is up to 2.1 GB and winlogon.exe is running at 491mb.

I'm worried that if I reboot the server, it will not be operational

because it can't check the product license. We have a hosted web

application that we cannot afford to go down for several days.

Any thoughts, one way or the other whether I should just reboot?

Thx

I have looked that permissions for wpa.dbl it looks fine not

compressed, not read-only however it has a modified date of 11/6/2007

and that is when this problem started.

Microsoft invalidated a great many Volume License keys, as well as MSDN

Universal keys a while ago. If you check with MS you should be able to be

re-issued new keys.

This is a dell poweredge server with windows 2003 sp1.

No changes to the server have been made, no new windows updates lately

as I manually go and get them so auto update has been off for over a

year.

Looks valid to me, plus I would think that I would have other servers

that would have the same problem if it were a blocked VLK.
