blank monitor

the monitor on my pc has gone blank all of a sudden. If i unplug the monitor lead it says check connection so the monitor itself works but nothing at all appears on screen when i start up the pc.. i have tried a different monitor and tried adding a graphics card but none of them make a difference. HELP!!!!!

what happened just before it developed the fault

 

you say you have tried a different monitor and adding a graphics card are you sure that both of these were in good working order

 

can you also give us some info on what happens when you turn it on, do you get any beeps can you hear the fans and hard drive working?
