Guest celticmcse Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I have never had to manage more than one domain in any version of Windows Server, so please forgive my ignorance... I have a client who wants to create multiple web domains with multiple corresponding email domains. e.g. abc.com 123.com xyz.net 789.net These are subsidiaries of the parent company. Each will have its own web site and employees will login remotely to OWA for email. If this can be done easilly using Windows Server, can you point me in the direction of the best docs? Also, why would I use Windows Server to do all this rather than a product like CPanel? http://www.cpanel.net/index.html Thanks in advance for your input!

I would recommend a single AD domain. Email and web are entirely different. Your webhosting shouldn't be on your internal network anyway - keep it at a hosting company. > > These are subsidiaries of the parent company. Where is Exchange in this picture? > > If this can be done easilly using Windows Server, can you point me in > the direction of the best docs? Your plan/goal is really not clear enough for me to know what it is you're trying to do. Do you have AD yet? Do you have a main office with various branch offices you need to support? > > Also, why would I use Windows Server to do all this rather than a > product like CPanel? http://www.cpanel.net/index.html You wouldn't use Windows 2003 to host your websites internally, and if you're wise you won't host your websites internally anyway. A dedicated hosting center is the place to go for this. But again, this has nothing to do with your email - or your internal network structure. > > Thanks in advance for your input!
Guest Anthony Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Re: Mutliple Domains for Web and Email Hi, This is handled entirely in your mail server. Assuming it is Exchange, you should ask the question how to set up multiple domains in one of the Exchange newsgroups. Windows Active Directory is involved only in provisioning the user account and controlling access to mail services. Hope that helps, Anthony, htttp://www.airdesk.co.uk "celticmcse" <celticmcse@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:DA59A4AC-88EE-4DD3-83CC-4413CDDE6B28@microsoft.com... >I have never had to manage more than one domain in any version of Windows > Server, so please forgive my ignorance... > > I have a client who wants to create multiple web domains with multiple > corresponding email domains. > > e.g. > abc.com > 123.com > xyz.net > 789.net > > These are subsidiaries of the parent company.
