Would like to report a scam involving Microsoft

I'm writing on behalf of my Mother and Father, Alice and Bill, who are 79 and 85 respectively.

Twice in the past few months they have gotten a popup that takes over their desktop, appears to be from Microsoft and in very loud verbal and written form indicates the computer will be disabled and has been "blocked" due to virus activity. It continues on that they must call a number "(877) 767-9490" and speak with a "certified Windows Support agent" "right now" .

The first time it happened, they were able to get my mother to call them. I spent hours clearing my parents' PC after the "Microsoft certified engineers" "helped" them. Unfortunately, I either missed something, or they were re-infected, because it happened again; this time, they ignored the messages and called me instead.

I would like to send you a screen print (saved in whatever form you wish), so that you can see just how legitimate this scam looks to someone who isn't tech savvy so that others can be warned.

I realize you guys are busy, but since the attackers are fraudulently impersonating Microsoft techs, you are the only ones with the power to prosecute and stop them. Allowing these thieves to continue abusing elders and others who are vulnerable to this type of scam has the effect of making people frightened to turn on their PCs.

Please tell me where to send this information so that something can be done, Nancy (Alice's daughter)

PS. I've used a number of different tools to clear the system; RKill, Malwarebytes, AdWCleaner, & RogueKiller are a few.

Defender never finds anything, although I'm hopeful it will in the future since I turned on the PUP finder manually in the Registry. Also, Defender Offline doesn't seem to work as it should on this system (Dell Inspiron 5348: "All In One"), it goes to Dell Repair instead of the Defender program when initiated.
