DOTOMI... How does it affect my surfing on ie 11 or Edge, etc. Dangerous?

I believe in targeted advertising and I don't mind being tracked as part of big data. I've used google and bing, but I can't find any unbiased information.

I set my Norton Anti-Virus program to ask me about whether or not I want to delete a cookie.

ARE DOTOMI COOKIES TRULY DANGEROUS?

I want websites to recognize me and give me targeted adverts that might interest me. I believe in supporting "free" services and whatnot and I know that big data is concerned with advertising. BUT A COOKIE IS NOT A VIRUS!!! Or am I wrong?

When I ask search engines to explain what dotomi truly is, all I get are offers on virus removal and some tell me it will hijack and redirect my browser.

I want an answer from someone, (unlike my own paranoid brother!), who doesn't mind big data watching which adverts I click on. But I don't want to have them log every key stroke and potentially get my passwords. I find it hard to believe that a big company based in Chicago (It's Parent Co.) would resort to hijacking and redirecting my browser, or infecting it with a true malware program, or make it a zombie computer.

PLEASE ADVISE ME.... SINCERELY; PAUL DAMIAN S.
