Guest glee Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Re: Lost My Win 98SE Power Scheme To restore the power scheme? What do you mean? Is the Control Panel option for Power missing, or what? You need to supply a bit more info to clarify what is "missing", or what doesn' work, and what is still there. Details please..... -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ "DaffyD®" <daffyd@woohoo.com> wrote in message news:eaNYEVCKIHA.4584@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > What file do I transfer from the cd to restore the power scheme? Below the Save As and Delete buttons, there's the word "Unknown" and the options below that are grayed out The Power Management icon is still in Control Panel. Is there a fix for this?

Go here http://members.bellatlantic.net/~mrscary/scrptdl.htm and scroll to the last item on the page "Script & .reg file to restore the default Power Policies to the Power Management control panel" Download the linked "powerfix.zip": http://members.bellatlantic.net/~mrscary/scripts/powerfix.zip Unzip the .reg file and the .vbs file Double-click the PowerFix.vbs script to run it. Then, merge the PowerFix.reg file into the Registry by either double-clicking it, or right-clicking it and selecting Merge on the context menu, and click OK to the confirmation message. You may need to log off and back on, but possibly not. Post back with your results. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+

YW, Daffy.....but thanks go to former MS-MVP Attila Szabo, a.k.a MrScary, who was kind enough to leave his old web pages up, along with his scripts, which is what I linked you to. http://members.bellatlantic.net/~mrscary/ -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+
