dina Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Hi, I don't know whether I have posted on the right forum, but here goes anyway. I have been unable to get drivers for my pc motherboard. The motherboard is Elitegroup K7Vmm+. I have used searches to find the motherboard and have found it, the only problem is, is that every site I have gone on wants to download after a scan of my computer, my problem being is that my poorly computer is not on line. Does anyone know how I go about this. I am totally stumped with computers so I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Many thanks Dina Quote
RandyL Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Hi dina; Why do you think you need to install this? It can be risky business as something might go wrong. It might not solve your problem at all so it would be better if we knew what issue you have. I'm going to link you to where you can download this without a scan but be advised that we are not responsible should it not go well and may not solve your problem. BeeCeeBee Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Just following up a bit on what RandyL has said. Considering that things don't seem to be working for you, would it not be best to let us know what exactly is happening? My concern is that someone has apparently advised you that you need drivers for your motherboard. While I certainly don't know the details, that is a pretty technical diagnosis. It seems to me that someone who gives that advice should be able to also tell you how to get and install them. Again, what makes you think you need motherboard drivers and what are the problems that you are trying to cure? Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
dina Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Motherboard Drivers Thanks for answering, I will do my best to tell you what has been happening to my computer. I had my friend to format my HDD and re-install XP Pro because my windows was playing up really bad. All drivers were put back on. At start up I get American Megatrends which runs through a whole lot of checking, then I get a blank screen. It then takes 3-4 mins to load windows. When windows does come on it runs perfectly, but then I had no USB's working only PS/2. I hope this info helps and you can advise me. Many thanks. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 If you look here Dina and scroll down to the 7th driver download you will see it's for a USB controller for XP. Please tell us if you have any other issues like sound or graphics. ECS Web Site Quote
Tootech Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 On the the same link Wolfey gave you, you really ought to download and install the first package VIA Service Pack (4 in 1) :) Quote
dina Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 (edited) Motherboard Drivers I tried the site you advised, but it did not seem to have the motherboard I am looking for. Oh and I now have my USB's working, but the computer will not start up quick, it goes through all of these different checks, then it says boot failure, then if you press restart button the computer comes on, any ideas. BeeCeeBee Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Dina, I have just visited that site and looked at the recommendations made by both Wolfeymole and Tootech. That site is for the K7Vmm that you need. Do download the packages that were suggested. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
Guest Wolfeymole Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Dina The links given are for the board that you have described, it says so at the top of the page. If you are getting Boot Failure error messages but are then able to boot ok you may have a hard disk that is on it's way out. Please tell us of any more errors or messages that you see. Quote
