RandyL Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Hi sukar; I'm glad you uninstalled those programs. However I'm concerned that you are engaging in habits that are unsafe. Try doing a System Restore to before you installed those. If that works I would suggest you uninstall any and all games or programs that were not obtained legitimately. Also did you get that game from a torrent site as they can be notoriously problematic. If you do have a torrent program remove that also. We are all members helping other members. sukar_91 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 by system restore you mean to the last "safe point" or a complete system restore because i have not made any recent system restore enteries on my computer everything that i installed has been uninstalled
RandyL Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 By System Restore I mean restore it to a point when it worked. You would not have to have made a restore point as Vista creates one every 24 hours automatically. It's extremely hard to change that setting. If you have not turned off System Restore you can run it by going to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. It might take a couple minutes to bring it up so be patient. This will not restore your computer to it's original state when you first got it. That is a system recovery or reinstall. This will just back it up to the date you choose. If it doesn't work you can un-do the restore using the same applet. We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. sukar_91 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 when i go to system restore, it says the following: no restore point has been created on your computers system disk.
RandyL Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 It appears that it's been turned off then. First things first though. Since you were getting errors before this anyway I suggest to hang on while we review this. It seems all these errors relate to software most likely or an additional hardware device. Audio or video editing or burning software like Nero may be to blame. Can you tell us what programs you have that might relate? As a side note I would make sure all your files are backed up to an external media source just in case or in case you need to reinstall. We are all members helping other members. sukar_91 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 would like to thank you in advance i do no have nero or any other sort of burning software which i have recently installed. The last thing i installed was the game and its update, however i did some prior research and i read somewhere about : bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx alwaysoff so i did this and there was no difference..so its alwayson again now besides this i have not recently installed any new software to my computer. I just got a new HD put in and everything seemed to be working fine before i installed the game earlier today
RandyL Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Since you recently put in a new hard drive you had to reinstall Windows on it. What kind of Windows disk is this? Did it come with your computer? Since you recently put in a new hard drive you probably haven't installed much software yet. Can you tell us what third party software you have installed even though it is not "recent". A startup repair may or may not work so if you could please answer those questions we'll look into it. Please give as much detail as you can in your answers. We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. sukar_91 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 the windows disk did come with the computer i currently have vista home premium on this computer, thats what it came up once the new HD was put it, i received it with the restore and windows installed i have the following third party softwares: bitdefender 2009 hijack this itunes k-lite codec pack mkv2vob fire fox CCleaner Utorrent quicktime windows live messenger winrar *sidenote* when i go to folder options under control panel and UNCHECK the "Always show icons, never thumbnails" option i only receive "COM Surrogate has stopped working" messages
RandyL Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Sukar I have asked you about audio or video softare and you said no to Nero but failed to mention mkv2vob. mkv2vob and the k-lite codec pack have been known to cause these issues. You just said you still have Utorrent and I see you have winrar too. I have asked you to remove any torrent programs and you said you did. You are probably using winrar to unrar torrents which is dangerous enough considering what you have been downloading.
