Loopy Lou Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Hi, I'm not really sure how to use this but i'll give it a go. I have a problem with my other computer, when I turn it on there are no desktop icons, no start bar, just the desktop picture. I can press CTRL + ALT + DELETE but then when I try to start a new task there is nothing. I don't know enough about computers to play around to see what is wrong. Has anyone got any sugestions? Thank you Lou Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 (edited) Hello Loopy, What you need to do is right click with your mouse on an empty spot oon the desktop. A drop down menu will appear. Click on arrange desktop icons and then make certain that show desktop icons is checked. This should restore your desktop to normal. Next try the following steps to restore your taskbar. Press CRTL+ESC. If the Start menu appears, right-click the Start menu, and then click Properties. Click the Taskbar tab, clear the Auto-hide the taskbar check box, and then click OK. If this does not work, it may be that your user account is corrupted. Try logging in as another user. If you are the only user, go to user accounts in your control panel and create a new user administrator account. Let us know. Maz Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Would explorer.exe have any part in this? i usually find that is the cause when the taskbar disappears and then reappears eventually... Quote - /\/\az -
