BJD88 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) Hi all, I'm pretty new to the site and have been reading some of the issues in the other topics but so far nothing has helped :( The Story... Basically whenever I play games and use Teamspeak, other people can hear background noise and other interference coming from my end such as echoing, noise from my PC's fans etc. After a few sessions and trying to figure out why this was happening with a clan mate over TS - he suggested that I uninstall the Sound driver all together and reinstall without the added software "Reatlek Audio Manager".... NOW.. I am unable to reinstall the soundcard driver or uninstall the device from my system. I recieve an Error message half-way through the installation stating.. "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!" Everytime i try to install the driver from the CD or from the website. ***Please note the driver from the image is one i downloaded and i am unsure whether this is the same one on the CD however the same message minus the error code appears. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v733/Bolter15/SCissue.jpg Under Device manager the Realtek HD entry has obviously been removed from the software uninstall and all that is listed appeart from the codes etc. is " Audio on HD audio Bus" - however this is listed as having no driver or no driver has been loaded for this device. My system Motherboard = Gigabyte S Series P35C-DS3R F2 **AUDIO IS ONBOARD - just called Realtek HD **I use a Creative Labs HS-600 Headset for Teamspeak etc. There are no problems with this. If anyone can solve this issue i'd be very grateful :( thankyou in advance, Ben Edited February 20, 2009 by BJD88 Quote
Tootech Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Driver is available here... GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - Driver - GA-P35C-DS3R (rev. 1.x) It is dated 22/01/2009 so it looks like there have been some enhancements/updates recently. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hi BJD and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. First off I would not have recommended the removal of the driver in the first place, the problem you describe comes from having a too sensitive microphone connected. However the damage has been done. Though now late in the evening I have had a quick look at the gigabyte site and found this- GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - Download Center Is it this link or page you got the driver from? On that page you should find the link button to update or reinstall all drivers which should also cover the sound system. Otherwise there are quite few different types of the Realtech sound system so drivers have to be the right ones to work. I would try the Gigabyte site first as they should have the right ones for your board. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. BJD88 Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Update on Situation here.. I've downloaded the lastest Driver for the Sound card and the same error message occurs.. However.. I found a few entries under the program list which i think were related to previous attempts at reinstalling the driver from the CD. once I had removed these and restarted the computer I was able to run the Installation for the Sound card driver. Now this is the weird part  ... It will run and complete the installation, stating a restart is required - Upon restart.. the system will identify "new found hardware PCI DEVICE" But when looking in device manager to check whether any new hardware has been added there is Nothing related to Realtek listed - the only addition is a PCI device which i take is the on-board sound listed under system services. ----------------------------------------------------- To make Matters worse - the internet connection has been lost ! So my current state is...:confused:System will not install the hardware for my on-board sound properly. Internet connection lost Quote
Plastic Nev Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Hi, Do you have a separate sound card, plugged into a PCI slot? The system declaring it has found one can only happen if there is one normally. What type of internet connection do you have? We may have to reinstall that as it seems the drivers may have inadvertently been deleted in the process so far. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Plastic Nev Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 A couple more thoughts, first have you tried a system restore to before you removed the drivers in the first place? Something else I have remembered, you state you have XP and Vista, is this on two different machines or one of the OS is on a separate partition? and which OS is the problem with? the Vista or the XP. If the XP, have you updated it to SP3? There were some odd issues regarding sound drivers and SP3 when it first came out. It may be worth rolling back to SP2 then trying the install. BJD88 Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Hi Nev, Appreciate your help so many thanks....decided to format drive which sorted things. We all learn from our mistakes!! Have another unrelated query though that maybe you could answer. I recently helped my younger brother to upgrade his pc with a new mobo, memory and processor. Things seem ok but I've noticed that the lights on his multimedia keyboard and mouse remain illuminated after the pc has been shut down....any ideas as this can't be normal? Quote
RandyL Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 BJD could you please start a new thread on this as it is unrelated to the topic at hand. Thanks.
