waiting for a transaction response from the NtFrs service

Over the weekend we had 3 servers with non-response behavior. We can ping it,

but are unable to make contact using rdp or other management software. When

we approach the servers the is only a blank screen and the only solution is

to do a hard reset.

 

When we look at the event log the the one thing that is the same on all

three servers is this event id:

 

Event Type: Error

Event Source: Service Control Manager

Event Category: None

Event ID: 7011

Date: 19.11.2007

Time: 00:36:44

User: N/A

Computer: ERFS01

Description:

Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the

NtFrs service.

The strange thing is that all three servers have been working perfect until

now. We know that we have been running windows update on them recently, but

are unable to see any pattern.

 

The servers are Windows 2003 standard, Enterprise and Small Business (All R2)

 

Running software are Microsoft Exchange 2003, MS SQL 2000, Trend Client

Server Messaging Security for SMB v.3.6 and Repcliaction Exec agent. All

software have the latest service packs innstalled.

 

Is anyone else having the same symptons? Help?
