file server crashed - some users cannot access their offline folders?

we always set our users my document folders to be redirected to a file

server (in this case windows 2000 server) and their XP Pro PCs are set to

use offline folders.

so in theory when the server is unavailable they scan still work on their

files.

I use this all the time on my laptop so I can take it home and work on my

files without having to dial in to work.

 

well the file server crashed, and some users are getting an error when

trying to access the files offline, they are getting "document name or path

is not valid"

they cannot sync with the server, since the server is dead.

 

if you try to view their offline files by clicking on the icon, some users

show all their files, others only show some.

 

and even the ones that show all cannot access them from there, they get that

error message I mentioned above.

 

help!

trying to restore from backup tapes to another server, but having issues, so

if we could get them access to their files offline that would at least buy

me some time.
