Has anybody got any idea what is happening to my e-mails. The problem is this. I usually use outlook express for sending and receiving e-mails and I have 4 e-mail addresses(3 x tiscali.co.uk and 1 x ukgateway.net) Until recently I could send and receive e-mails with all of the addresses using outlook express. Now I cannot receive any e-mails with one of the tiscali addresses (but I am able to send e-mails using it) . When I open outlook express it connects and authorises but then says it has not received any messages. However if I log on to the Tiscali homepage and use Webmail I can retrieve messages for that e-mail address. I have checked and re-entered all the connection settings and passwords in outlook expess accounts as directed by Tiscali but it has not resolved the problem. I have even tried using a seperate differnt pc but once again I can only receive e-mails via Tiscali Webmail and not using oulook express. I have contacted Tiscali Help but they have been as much use as a chocolate teapot!! Any help would be much appreciated.

Just to be on the safe side, the POP settings for incoming and outgoing mail on tiscali are not the same.

The incoming is pop.tiscali.co.uk while the outgoing is smtp.tiscali.co.uk. I know it is basic but sometimes it looks right and just gets glossed over.

The fact that it is only 1 account out of 3 not working would seem to indicate that it may be just that basic.

OK all the settings on each account are the same.

You can send mail on that account.

You can not receive mail on that account.

You have set up the account on another computer and the same thing happens. I assume you mean you have trouble receiving mail on just that one account and not the others on the different PC.

My first thought was that you had somehow set up an Outlook Express Rule to block any incoming mail from that account. You can check that by going to Tools>Message Rules>Mail. However since you setup the account on a different comp I doubt you created such a rule there.

If your POP or SMTP settings are wrong you would get an error but you didn't mention that so rule that out.

If this information is correct then I would rule out this being an OE problem.

Since this only started recently and it exists on two different computers exactly the same then I would suspect it to be something on both computers that probably is not directly related to OE.

Do you have any third party spam blocking software installed on both computers? Or any other software on both computers that might be blocking the mail from that account for that matter?

Like BeeCeeBee I suspect that a setting is not right. When you match up the settings make sure they are all the same under every tab. Click on properties for that account and check every single setting for every single tab. Look carefully for more options. Check the settings on the different PC against one of the working accounts.

It really does boil down to a setting or a rule or third party software blocking it.

I was looking at the tiscali site.

You might want to have a look at how to setup outlook express email with tiscali.

Also look at How to check the settings.

Do you use SecureMail from tiscali?
