No, the rdp 6.0 client is compatible with rdp 5.x on the host.

In which way does the connection fail? If you have a problem to be

authenticated, check this out:

Why I can't connect with RDP 6.0 so I still connect with RDP 5.0 client? Does

it need to change any port on firewall?

Re: Can't connect RDP to Windows 2003 server?

Since you do not mention any details of the error that you get,

it's impossible to tell you why you can't connect. In 99% of the

cases, it is the changed logon behaviour of the rdp 6.0 client,

that's why I pointed you to the Authentication FAQ.

Did you find your problem there?

If not, post a detailed description of how you try to connect,

including the domain and username information and when you type it

in (but replace the domain/workgroup with MY_DOMAIN and username

with MY_USERNAME or something similar), as well as the error

message that you get.

No, you don't have to change anything in the firewall.

Re: Can't connect RDP to Windows 2003 server?

I don't change anything on firewall and I log in by Computer\User name. Step

by step for connect to remote computer as below.

1. Connect vpn.

2. RDP by computer name\user name.

Then I'd uninstall the rdp 6.0 client again. It doesn't offer much

advantages on an XP client anyway. Wait for the rdp 6.1 client

instead.
