Guest partykdj Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I followed the directions to set up the time synch on my PDC (windows 2003 server xp2). When I came in the morning two of my servers had the following warning messages Source: W32time | Event ID: 50 | Description: | The time service detected a time difference of greater than 5000 | milliseconds for 900 seconds. The time difference might be caused by | synchronization with low-accuracy time sources or by suboptimal network | conditions. The time service is no longer synchronized and cannot provide | the time to other clients or update the system clock. When a valid time | stamp is received from a time service provider, the time service will | correct itself. I did a little more research and discovered there is a hot fix supplied by microsoft that you have to request (which I did but have not received yet). My question is does anyone know do I apply that hotfix to my time sync server or do I install it on the servers I am receiving the warings on?
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Re: Time Synch Problem Hello partykdj, If you talk about this article, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830092/de ,in the part Server 2003 "hotfix replacement information" under IMPORTANT you have your question answered in detail: Important Microsoft recommends that you install this hotfix on all Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. Start by installing this hotfix on the primary domain controller that is the operations master in the root directory of the forest. If you experience this problem only on member servers, install the hotfix on domain controllers first and then install the hotfix on the member servers.
