help(blank screen but laptop on) ??? battery help

i have windows vista and the laptop im using is a advent

about a year ago the charger went wrong so we perchest

a expensive note book one made by a company called trust

(and it works perfect) well the other day the end that i plug

into the laptop broke so i took the addapter bit that goes

into the laptop off and brought a new bit (not made by the

same company as the charger) and fixed it to the charger

. it worked (and has been for about a week)

but on the laptop the bit that flashes orange to

say the laptop charging doesnt flash ? it stays green ? and

even weirder when i take the charger out the laptop

(the charging light) starts to flash orange even though

the charger is out ?

but today i was normally using the laptop and the screen

when off (the charger was in) the fan stoped going

but the power light to say the laptops on was still on

not standby (because standby light flashes) so i held

down the power button till the laptop went off and it

did . so then i pushed the power button agian and the

power light came on the accesing hard drive light came on

but just blank screen ??? and no fan sound or disk drive

sound that it usually makes ?? i have tryed most things

like taking out the laptop battery for a little wile and still

the same as aboth ! any ideas? thanks

Hi Julz, and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

I am sorry but it sounds a lot like the mother board has gone, Did you at any time sense a smell of burning near it?

I doubt it has gone because of the power supply, but it could be a contributing factor.

The only real answer now is to take it to a repair man and ask for it to be tested in order to be sure.

If possible use a local and reputable repairer rather than one of the big names. The smaller businesses tend to charge less.
