EventID 53 source certsrv; Eventid 13 Autoenrollment failure(request subject name too long) 2003 server.. Pls Help..

 

I have an ENT Server 2003 box (backup01).. with an ENT CA.. which is

actually "under" another server called ServerDC, which is a DC and a

regular CA..

 

So regular CA.. then ENT CA...

 

On the event viewer app log for ServerDC.. i have EventID 13 every so

often (autoenrollment)..

 

Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed to enroll for

one Domain Controller Authentication certificate (0x80094001). The

request subject name is invalid or too long.

 

 

Then on the corresponding Backup01 server, eventid 53, source certsvc:

 

Certificate Services denied request 171 because The request subject

name is invalid or too long. 0x80094001 (-2146877439). The request

was for Domain\ServerDC2$. Additional information: Error Constructing

or Publishing Certificate

 

Certificate Services denied request 173 because The request subject

name is invalid or too long. 0x80094001 (-2146877439). The request

was for domain\ServerDC$. Additional information: Error Constructing

or Publishing Certificate

 

Note that ServerDC2.. is a "secondary" dc..

 

 

These keep reappearing..

 

If i go into certificate authority.. I do see alot of failed

requests "request subject name is invalid or too long" (for each DC)

 

I'm not sure how to fix this?
