Guest James W. Long Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Hi All, Every time I go to install SP2 on Win2k3 Server, the server goes dead, as in locks out all communications both ways. cant start the network service, cant start the firewall service and cant ping outside my server. I found a couple things that say to disable the IPSec service, but that doesn't fix it, or change anything. it's in it's own little world. After installing SCW (thank you M$ for not doing this, I found THAT tidbit somewhere). I run it, and SCW says it cannot create its database. hmm.. do I need that? What I did find was that the RPC endpoint mapper isn't working properly anymore. even though it says it started, nothing can find an endpoint. The machine does not know its name and the DNS log says there is a problem with RPC. so nothing works anymore, but I do not know how to fix it. Any takers? I have half a clue that the credentials for RPC were changed and I am not sure how to use that information, if that's the problem, and if so.... Thanks M$, why doesn't this *Just Work* ??? This is a DC as a File Server and with AD integrated DNS. I do not understand what I am supposed to do post sp2 installation to bring the server to normal. I hope you know. Thank you, James W. Long.
