Dual Booting Win98 and XP is is possible?

Is it possible to boot to both Win98 and XP? I also want Dos. I

assume my win98 would be the dos boot, since right now I boot to dos

and have to type WIN to start windows.

 

What I want is this same setup for 98 and dos, OR boot to XP.

How can I do this? Do I put both OSs on C:, or should I put one of

them on D: (another partition)?

Easiest is to install 98 on your "C": drive and after that's up and going

install XP on a second partition or hard disk (usually "D"). Pay attention

to XP's install screens during install. You end up with a boot menu where

you select which OS to start, then if you have 98's startup menu also being

displayed you can select Windows or DOS after selecting "Windows 98"..

 

Least works fine on my older P733 with two hard disks in it.

 

Note - if you want the XP hard disk to be usable under DOS and 98 then

insure it's formatted FAT32 and not NTFS as 98/DOS doesn't understand NTFS

formatted disks.

I have a similar multiple OS HD.

Must be made in one of the following ways:

1a) Make DOS partition(s) but leave 2 for Win88SE and XP; install DOS

and any other related programs / data.

1b) Use FDISK to create partition for Win98SE, format it and set that as

active; install Win98SE.

 

2a) Use FDISK to create partition for Win98SE, format it and set that as

active; install Win98SE.

2b) make other partition(s) for DOS but leave one for XP.

2c) set DOS partition as active, install DOS and anything else related;

reset Win98SE partition as active when done.

 

Now the possibly triksy part.

Win2K will *ask* where you want to put it, and you can then select

the unformatted space as a new partition and install there.

Net result is that when you boot, you will see a screen to choose the

OS (Win98SE or Win2K).

 

Now, if XP is *nice* (which is seriously doubtful), it will allow the

same flexibility.
