woz1 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Owdo all. ok, im running IE7 on XP. all of a sudden its taking ages to load any internet sites. so far hoping to fix this slow speed i have, reset internet options back to default, replaced the IE shortcut with a new one, and defragged the hard drive. I also installed Registry mechanic, which though finding a number of faults chooses not to fix the faults it finds, which change with every scan? Can anyone help please? Quote
RandyL Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Hi woz; Please don't use the registry cleaner. As you can see they can be unreliable or worse. Is anything besides web surfing slow? Have you tried a different browser? Is your boot time slow? I'm sure someone will ask you how you connect to the internet too. Quote We are all members helping other members. woz1 Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 (edited) I have no problems other than browsing. MY connection is with toucan broad band, which is a TISSCALI subsidiary. I have not tried a different browser, would one help? Edited March 2, 2009 by woz1 Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 That is a good question woz with only one way to find out. I would suggest that you download and give Firefox a try. If it turns out that you are once again surfing trouble free we will know the issue is related to Internet Explorer. Tootech Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 How do you connect up to the Internet - is it a USB modem or a router you use? It's worth using a speed check site and check it a few times a day - that way it will help to work out if it is traffic related or computer related. Here's a good one.
