Guest john Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 i am migrating files using MS file migration wizard, they all copied fine i unchecked stop sharing source folders, but just had some users say they can,t access there home folder when logging on and this message is displayed: "WARNING: Home directory unavailable. a problem has occured and your network home directory is not available. this maybe because a network file server is offline. you have been logged on with a temporary home drive which may be shared with other users. files you save here are not secure and may not be available next time you log on. if this problem persists please contact your system administrator." i have stoped the wizard before it stopped finalising source server to stop this happing to all accounts. have checked folder permissions, AD paths etc nothing different from accounts that do have access and those that do not and no leads on-line? Try adding an entry in the HOSTS file to the correct server, or flushdns and renew the networka adapter. You can also verify if the clients are trying to access the correct machine. To verify, do a ping of the hostname and see if it resolves to the correct IP address. -- Jabez Gan Microsoft MVP: Windows Server - File Storage "john" <john@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:D2DC1325-A7DD-4011-91F6-5BC624FD278D@microsoft.com... >i am migrating files using MS file migration wizard, they all copied fine i > unchecked stop sharing source folders, but just had some users say they > can,t > access there home folder when logging on and this message is displayed: > > "WARNING: Home directory unavailable. > a problem has occured and your network home directory is not available. > this maybe because a network file server is offline. > you have been logged on with a temporary home drive which may be shared > with > other users. > files you save here are not secure and may not be available next time you > log on. > if this problem persists please contact your system administrator." > > i have stoped the wizard before it stopped finalising source server to > stop > this happing to all accounts. have checked folder permissions, AD paths > etc > nothing different from accounts that do have access and those that do not > and > no leads on-line? > > > (w2k domain - w2k3 r2 x64 domain) >
