Hi guys, 2 questions

Q1:

I recently had a A+ exam question in which i'm not sure whether i got the answer correct and was wondering whether you guys could help.

The question went along the lines of

"You have Windows 2000 Computer with SP2 installed. You would like to install SP4. Which of the following options is the correct Upgrade Path.

Now i can't remember all 4 options but 2 of the answers were Install SP3 first then SP4 or Install SP4 as SP3 is included.

I answered the latter which i believe is correct. Could you please clarify this for me?

Q2:

I'm a Computer administrator but fairly new to the industry. I was wondering whether there was a way in Windows Xp through Printer & Faxes to set the user only a specified amount of time to print?

Cheers,

Darren

On the second question well, mmm, I would depend on the size of the document.

The question on the whole is rather vague though, is it possible you could enlarge on just exactly what you mean please?

Maybe i should rephrase the 2nd question

"Is there a way in Windows XP to set a period of time that the user is allowed to print meaning set a period during the day?"

Cheers.

Like a dedicated time slot to allow printing?

Example.

User 1 may print between the times of 8am-10am

User 2 can print from 10am till 12pm

User 3 between 12pm and 3pm

...

along those lines?

I have just had a quick look and I can't find anything relating to permission times. (although I am using XP)

I would guess that you would have to use some kind of specific software for this

The problem is i know you can do it through Printers & Faxes. This question was on a certified 2007 A+ exam but obviously exams dont tell you answers.

Is there anybody that can help me with this problem?

I can't tell you the exact question as i don't have it as its like i said it was in an exam i took recently.

My question is why on earth a certified company such as CompTia A+ put this sort of question to do with printers in an exam when it has been proven with the number of forums ive posted this question don't have a clue what i'm talking about until of course i posted the solution??

This obviously isn't something Compter Administrators actually do in the procedure of trying to setup a network so why do CompTia expect us to know exactly how to do this?

Actually SuperD it seems like a pretty good idea now that we know its there. Certainly would save on paper and ink if there were no after hours printing being done.

The bigger question is why would anyone think that it would be on the exam if the answer was a simple NO. As home users we would just never think of limiting printer time and that, probably, is why no one here knew of its existence.

I, of course, did know but didn't want to seem smarter than the rest. :D
