Guest rob Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Hi, I've got 2 identical servers (1 spare) My live server died today (Funny how it was after a Windows update!) I placed the disk in the other machine and it wasn't recognised so I couldn't get the data off it. So, I went home and got yesterdays backup tape (1 Hour Drive) I restored the tape and the machine won't boot. I then reinstalled Windows and applied service pack 2, then restored the tape. I selected overwite all files or was it overwrite if older. When I boot up It hangs on acpitabl.dat I tried to get into the recovery console and I cannot log on as the Administrator Account was renamed to Fred and I have a £ in the password. I assume the recovery console boots into US keyboard and it is actually looking for the Admin account named Administrator? What Can I do to get into the recovery console? Once there I was going to follow the suggestion posted at http://microsoft-server-operating-systems.hostweb.com/TopicMessages/microsoft.public.windows.server.general/1011122/1/Default.aspx My live server has the same problem so I think there is possibly something on the backup tape that is causing the problem? Also the disk from live server, placed into the second server was unrecognisable. I've been at this for 7 hours and I'm no further forward. can anyone help? In desperation, Rob
