What browser are you using?

When did this problem begin?

What anti virus software do you use?

What are your firewall settings? (click START >>> CONTROL PANEL >>>>> SECURITY CENTER >>>>> Look for the Firewall section... most likely it should say windows firewall is on..... then scroll down and underneath MANAGE SECURITY SETTINGS FOR... click on WINDOWS FIREWALL. )

I was going to ask you what you did to get it going again but I will save that for now. But are we talking about 2 PCs or just one (don't count the laptop?)

I can't even begin to tell you everything I sense you are doing wrong but being on the internet without any protection is asking for trouble. On line gaming and streaming without protection is over the top. I would suggest that you start protecting your machines or they will never function for any period of time.

It is obvious that your machine is infected with malware. How badly is yet to be determined.

I am going to give you a program to disinfect the machine as well as instructions to follow if you cannot get some of the programs off the internet. Please read this first.

http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/malware-removal-av-firewalls-etc/5629-malware-disinfection-limited-no-internet-access.html

Once that is read please proceed with the following and get back to us. I would also suggest that you not do any surfing etc. until you get some protecion. We have a number of programs that we recommend.

http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/malware-removal-av-firewalls-etc/3597-free-pc-help-recommended-security-products.html You may as well wait until after you use the disinfection process to consider the choices.

Your computer appears to be infected with Malware. Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a combination of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.

It is in your best interest to note the following:

  1. Please disable your resident security applications (such as AVG, Spybot, WinPatrol, etc.) before performing the below procedure so that they do not interfere with the process.
  2. Perform all the steps in the order listed to avoid any conflicts.
  3. If unsure, please stop and voice your doubts.
  4. You might be required to go offline during the disinfection process. Therefore, it is recommended to print off the instructions below for ease of reference.

If you stick to the above guidelines, all should go smoothly.

    ================================================

    STEP 5

    1. Click on Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and select System Restore.
    2. Choose the radio button marked Create a Restore Point on the first screen and click Next. Give the restore point a name then click Create. The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a note of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
    3. Next, click on Start > Run, type Cleanmgr and click on OK.
    4. Click on the More Options tab.
    5. Click the Clean Up button in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the most recent one.

This will remove any infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in "System Restore" are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only foolproof way to ensure the deletion of those files.

Note: Please don't use it on a regular basis as this will clear all previous restore points. The feature might be very useful to revert your computer to working condition if something goes wrong.

Re-enable all your security applications and please return here and tell us how the computer seems to be operating.

    Happy Safe Computing! http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/../images/additional-smilies/thumb.gif

Did you read the following?

http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/malware-removal-av-firewalls-etc/5629-malware-disinfection-limited-no-internet-access.html

You may have to use another PC to get the programs.

You can download the programs and put them onto a memory stick or burn them to a cd. Make sure that they are copied to the stick or disc and then install the programs from the stick.(disc) on your pc.

Also once you do please note the instructions about normal and safe mode usage in the above link.

A memory stick is easier but I will give you both methods.

On a working pc download the programs using Internet explorer. When it asks you if you want to run or save the program select save. It should as you for a location to save the file. Select something simple like the desktop.

Once it is saved simply move it to theUSB memory stick (which can be opened by looking in my computer and it should be the last drive mentioned) or burn it to a cd.

The problem with burning is that you must use the software available on that PC and I have no idea what that may be.

As I said, a memory stick (flash drive) is easier and they are very cheap to purchase. You do not need a large capacity drive for this.

Ive put that computer to one side!! Got laptop back , 44 quid to fix, upgrade plus a fiver for memory stick ha ha. Now my wireless router just turned up from virgin ! No doubt I'll be crying on your shoulders tomorrow, when i mess this one up !! thanks so far .

£44.00 indicates that the problem required no hardware. Glad you got it back but if you continue using it without proper protection form malware it will not be the last £44.00 you spend on it.

I don't mean to seem harsh but better to face reality than constant repair bills.

If you do have trouble with your router please post a new thread under networking and we will help you deal with it there.

Read the suggestions that I gave you and make sure you have 1 and only 1 good antivirus program at least 1 and, better, 2 anti malware programs and a decent firewall.

The 2 antimalware programs that are part of the disinfection process are both excellent. (SUPERantimalware and Malwarebytes.)

As for antivirus use either Avast or Avira if you need a free program. The eset paid suite is highly recommended as well.
