Hi, with the recommend from your team, I have been useing Opera browser now for a few months and I am finding it really good indeed. It is not all compatable with some of the sites that I use, but with some tweaking I might be able to. Now the question is, why is it so faster than Internet Exployer 7. You olny have to click IE7 and I have to wait about a minute to get the home page to come up. With Opera it is there in a few secounds. Opera is so quick why are the others out there useing it more?

Thanks again for the help in the past.

Walt

I suspect that there is something downloaded in your past that was IE specific. Browser speed should not be that significant a difference. To the best of my knowledge no one from the FPCH team has made a specific recommendation regarding Opera although a member or members may have.

I agree Walt - Opera is perhaps the quickest browser on the block at the moment.

I use it for most of my browsing and don't have any issues with it - even the online banking works.

If you want to try to make certain sites compatible, try F12, Edit Site Preferences, then over to Network, and change the browser identification to 'Identify As Internet Explorer'.

Why is so IE7 so slow - dunno to be honest - it may be way the browser coding is put together, and browsers such as Firefox and Opera have been written by much cleverer people than those that Bill Gates employed.

I'm just thankful there are alternatives :)

Exactly!!! I ditched IE because of speed issues as well and went to Opera. Best move I ever made. One of my favorite features in Opera is "mouse gestures."

I know that when it comes to coding websites... the code used is the same for Opera and FF... yet has to be tweaked for IE. IE is a web designer's biggest nightmare :p

As for why IE is so different... well... IE was already in place before the World Wide Web Consortium standards were put into effect. Microsoft decided to not listen to the opinions of one group. Thus why IE works a bit differently than other browsers.

Also.. to be fair... there are some things that IE can do that no other browser can ... the main thing being Direct X filters. (of course no one really uses those.. so it doesn't really matter :p )

Except those two. :D

Perhaps I should revise my post?
