Try returning the system to a previous configuration by clicking "Start", "Programs",

"Accessories", "System Tools", "System Restore". Also, check the

"C:\Windows\Options\Install" folder for the Windows setup files, which can be

used to reinstall Windows.

Start "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer", double-click "C:",

then the "Windows" folder, the "Options" folder, then the "Install" folder.

Then double-click "setup.exe".

Careful now. There are certain precautions that MUST be taken before

reinstalling Win Me over itself in the way you suggest including

uninstalling IE6 (if installed) and likewise renaming wmploc.dll to

wmploc.old if Windows Media Player 9 is installed.

However reinstalling Win Me because of an inability to connect to the

internet without first obtaining more details is, I feel, somewhat

extreme.

Did you check "Device Manager" to see what's there and what is not?

A Linksys wireless card is good, but, if you don't have a wireless router it

is just "tits on a boar hog." Get yourself a copy of Belarc Advisor (free)

and it will profile the computer telling you exactly what you have,

including software and Windows updates. Everest is another good app, also

free. Google for a download location.

As far as getting on the Net, you haven't even mentioned what kind of

connection you have. Are you on dial-up, DSL, cable, satellite, etc.??

Like Mike, I think running Windows setup is just a tad extreme before

knowing with what you are contending.

Heirloom, old and I wouldn't go

there

Re: windows me

ROFL!!!!! It took me a minute or two to decipher that acronym of the

Loon's and he is in big trouble!! A blast of cold air is on the way.

And yes, we are friggin' freezing up here. 10 below C yesterday, I

believe. I didn't go out. And a week of rain/snow/sleet/ice ahead. I

say, is this London weather?? Or North Pole......

I think it would only be fair if I went down to Texas to recuperate, eh?

Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, dental wise. Bridge is in

and it was giving me trouble, but he shaved off a micron or so and my

bite is ever so much better. Could even eat one of those Texas steaks,

I think.

Jewellery business is purring along. I not only am selling a few

pieces, but am taking orders!! Blows me away, it does. Bought a bunch

of semi-precious gems the other day.....mostly for Elayne and myself.

But I will sell them probably. All in golds, browns, rusts and

turquoise. E. is designing business cards for me. The selling caught

me by surprise cuz I wasn't ready for that. But getting there.

Maybe I will take another shot at taking pictures (pun intended, groan).

But E. is the expert, so may wait for her arrival on the 15th of

December.

Cheers to all.......Figglet

It's not that bad here at the moment, we've had some sunshine today but

there are a few grey clouds floating about but at least when it's cloudy it
